about

Dear Elizabeth,

Remember that great group of girlfriends you had once...maybe in college or even back in grade school?  Do you have a similar group now?  If so, fantastic.  If not, why not?

Is it because you poo-poo women's groups?  Maybe you went to a women's group once and it turned out to be more of a pity party than a place of empowerment.  Whatever the reason, you should know that women need other women.  We need other women to empower and teach us, to inspire us and to learn from.  A strong support team of women help make us more confident, more successful and feel more loved.

Get that gaggle of girlfriends back!  Come to the June 19 Passionality networking event.  Attend a Passionality in your own town or ask me about how you can start one where you live.  You have little to lose and so much to gain.  Get moving!

Keep it Pink,

Elizabeth

PS.  Wondering about "pink" as in "Keep it pink"?  To me, pink means power, possibility and passion.  Pink is the color of all of these things and I want that for you too.

"Am I Talking Too Much?"

No, I'm not referring to myself here.  I am referencing two separate comments from two different women.

Remember when you were a sophomore in high school and you decided not to raise your hand to answer the question about why birds were such a frequent motif in Tess of the D'Urbervilles, even though you read the book thoroughly and were pretty sure you knew the answer?  Then, the annoying boy to your right ended up answering the question (without raising his hand!) and you felt annoyed with yourself for holding back.  And, now here you are twentyish (or more!) years later and you are still self-censuring.

What does it matter?  Well, for one thing- when you hold back from answering a question, sharing your opinion or volunteering an idea, you deny other people the benefit of your insights.  Read the rest of the article here.

Authentic Self success story--ITP reader Michele Austin shares:

Dear Elizabeth,

Let me tell you where I am at.  Basically, I booted everyone out of my life who does not truly serve me well. I use to think that when a new friend needed a favor...I should switch this and that around and do my best to help them.  You know I am a target for people who over-schedule things since I am not working? My point is...I noticed a few people around me who don't do squat for anyone and they are ok people.  I adopted this  myself and it works!

Everything is just so much easier in my life now.  I notice something different every day and to be honest, I look for something different in me everyday.  The Coaching Cards help me to focus, otherwise I can get all over the place.  I believe it has taken me about 2 years (since Uncommon Confidence + In the Pink) to put 40 yrs in perspective.   I am so grateful to have you teach me about my Authentic Self, which I never knew existed.

I really thought that if I was a good person (TO OTHERS) then that would surely minimize any chance of me getting hurt or mistreated....Guess what?   That's the best way to be hurt and mistreated. You just can't put others FIRST.

When young people are told to 'respect yourselves first or no one else is" they are never told HOW.  That's just one of the special gifts that YOU give to all of us.  You have given us many examples...with 'permission' to be careful with ourselves.  I have been thinking about you and thanking your spirit.   I wanted you to know how well I actually am.

Keep up the good important work!

Your  biggest fan,   Shelly (Michele)
